A new idea....at least for me!

I started this quilt up at the retreat in June.  I had seen this pattern in McCall's Quilting back in 2012.  I knew as soon as I saw it, that I would tackle it one day.  The designer Janelle Cedusky is so talented.
I had it all cut before going up there and got most of it done while there!

At this point, I knew I would take it home to complete.  It would require way to much concentration.
I used Pellon's 'wonder under' and then cut out flowers to overlay here and there.  I then raw edge appliqued them on.
The outside border quilting is a first for me.  I have learned so much by watching Amy at Amy's Freemotion Quilting Adventures.  The inside flowers were FMQ outline quilted and the center square was quilted on the outside edge.
 Trimming for the binding.
 Machine binding is so easy.
I love a busy back, mistakes are far less visible!

A beautiful quilt. I love how you've fussy cut the flowers to wander through the quilt xxx

Wow, I love the effect that the flowers spilling over into the other squares gives - especially because the other squares are so geometric and structured, it adds softness to them. I really like this quilt, well done you, it's beautiful!

Those flowers just make this quilt! It adds another layer of dimension and it softens the squares. And your quilting is also beautiful. Great eye candy!

Lovely finish! I'm doing some similar blocks with stripes in my daughter's frog-tastic quilt, but I'm using stripy fabric instead of piecing. The appliquéd flowers are a really nice touch to break up the string lines in the quilt.

WOW!! That was a lot of work, but what a fabulous quilt, I love quilts with black in them for some reason and this one is stunning!

Such a beautiful quilt, with so many different techniques. You must be so pleased now that it is finished after starting it so long ago!

Would you like to link up to the linky on my blog - Free Motion Mavericks? It would be lovely to see you there.

Love from (very hot and sunny!) England,
