Each year for the last three years, the Fresno County Victims Advocacy group has come to me to sew their annual victims quilt. These victims were all killed in a violent manner.
I make these squares into a simple quilt with sashing.
The individual families have the squares made up to a specific size.
Putting your loved ones into one of these quilts is strictly voluntary.
The gals at NFQ tie the quilt and then it comes back to me for binding.
This year, I decided to do the binding by machine. It needed the added integrity as it hangs on the wall in the hall of their office building.
There are young and old alike on this quilt.
I will turn this years quilt in tomorrow. This is a very hard quilt to work on each year. Last years quilt had my ex-brother-in-law on it!

How very sad. You must have mixed emotions gazing upon these faces and names as you stitch. How wonderful of you to take time out of your every day life to stitch a lovely, stitched memorial for the families!!

Gosh this must be such hard work, as it must be very emotional working on this and looking at the faces of those who are on the quilt, but an amazing thing for you to have done. I am sorry that you had someone you knew on a quilt like this, it is amazing that you sewed that one. I am sure that your work is greatly appreciated. xx
