Thank you Grace!

Thanks to my "It's A Sister Thing - 2014" swap partner Grace at City Mouse Quilter, I have a new pillow on my hand sewing chair in my sewing room!!  I have needed a new pillow for ages, and just hadn't taken the time to make one.  When I say these fabrics in my special package, I knew immediately that they were going to be IT!
I decided that I would cut the squares 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 with the lobster block at 4 1/2 x 4 1/2.  The navy check will be the back.

I absolutely adore this little lobster guy!  Looks to me like he is ready to eat.  I simply quilted with my walking foot, 1/4" out from each seam,  And used my free motion foot to outline the lobster...twice!
This is where I sit to do hand work.  I was in desperate need of a back pillow.  See the little table off to the side,  I made that in woodshop in Hi School!  I was the first girl to ever take woodshop in my Hi School.  I won't tell you how long ago that was.
Now I have the most stylish pillow in the land!  Thanks Grace, for these wonderful fabrics.  Now I will think of you every time I walk into my sewing room.

  3. What a cute (and functional) little pillow! That lobster is so cute. I love how you outlined him twice. Really makes him stand out! I was the only girl in my high school that was taking shop at the time... We are so much alike, sis!

  4. Your pillow turned out really cute! I just love that lobster fabric and this pillow highlights it. Your table is also great. "Back in my day", the girls all had to take shop and the guys all had to take home ec but we didn't make that complicated of a project. It all comes together to make a comfy, cozy sewing corner!

  17. I love what you have made from your sister swap gifts. Even more, I love seeing your Chinese sewing baskets on the table you made yourself! I have a similar basket that belonged to one of my grandmothers--but compared to yours, there are many missing pieces! Love that you have not one, but two!
