A tale of two floors! day 1

Have you ever had your entire house re-floored?  It is not that fun.  How do I know?  We just had that exact thing happen to our home.

You must first clear out all the stuff you need to live your life.  Yes...everything!  This was my sewing room.  You must start this phase days in advance.

You move things from one room to the next, then you must clean that room out.  Shuffle, shuffle!

When you only have one living space, it is the last room to be cleaned out.  Now you can see why we have new furniture on order!

Boxes everywhere.  It really did feel like we were moving....again!  Proof we needed new floors.

No hanging clothes in the closet.  Aren't I lucky to have such a big closet?  I actually have 3 dressers in my closet.

Don't ever get carpeting in the dinning room!  This carpet came with the house.  I am so glad to have consistent floors throughout.

Old carpet out, new carpet in!  This is the only room with carpet now.

Well, the master closet has carpet too.

New flooring is carried in 2 boxes at a time....all 56 of them!  It must acclimate for 24 hours.

While having no sewing machine set up, and no where to go...I tried to teach myself to hand quilt.  Now I know why I don't hand quilt, I stink at it!  I've decided that I will finish this guy on my machine.

Bedroom and closet carpet in!  It only took 3 1/2 hrs from start to finish!  That included the removal of the old carpet (in the bedroom/closet only), placing the new carpet and carrying in all those boxes of the new flooring.

Stay tuned for day 2-4 of the "Tale of two floors!"

Now, now Miss Vicki, hand quilting is oodles of fun!! Love the colour of your new floor. Moving everything is such a bummer isn't it...but when it is all back to 'normal' you won't know yourself in your beautiful 'new home!!

I like your flooring colour. It will be perfect for not showing dust! That means more time to quilt! Mine is dark and the dust shows!

Sounds like a lot of work! Must have been expensive too. Hope the furniture arrives safely.

One of my biggest wishes is for new hardwood flooring through my whole house. I just can't imagine trying to clear out every room in our house to accomplish it though. We have so much BIG furniture ... ugh. Your first carpeting is looking great! Can't wait to see the next installment. Wendy x
