Four very special friends!

Back in February, I went to a very fun retreat (Quilting in the Pines - HERE) with 4 very special friends.  I wanted to make them each a token of my love, so I figured that sewing pouches were the thing to make.

I wanted them to be the same, only different!  So I used the same focus fabric on each, with 4 different accent fabrics.

I quilted each accent fabric differently.  The hearts are all quilted the same.

Here they all are, standing at attention.

Each one was lined with my signature lemon fabric.  I kept it simple....no inside pockets.

This is a glamor shot on the rocks!  Thank you Dotty, Jennifer, Deborah and Cindy!  I had a fantastic time.

NFQ's Wednesday fun!

Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week!  I get to go to NFQ (North Fresno Quilters), and catch up with some of my favorite gals.  They are the helping hands that make my quilts come to life.

This little beauty was just put onto the frame this week.  It is marked for prairie stitching.  We all decided that the yellow would show up best.  Work has begun!

Auditioning thread for the roll of tying this quilt.  Actually the green won out!  You go girls.

This handsome quilt is being tied with navy/red ties!  Stack and wack fun.

This dreamy little quilt will be tied with this soft pink thread.  Some tween will fall in love with this simple lap quilt.

This great quilt came off the frame and home with me to bind.  It is prairie stitched and it is one of my favorites.

Everyone is busy.  Making thread decisions, pattern decisions, tying, stitching.

"Happy mail" to me!  Can't wait to figure out which pattern I will use for this bundle of total joy!

Sewing when I'm not sewing!

Sewing doesn't always mean sitting in front of a sewing machine.  I sew a little each day, and something I am sitting with my feet up in my recliner!

I have been elected to be the quilt hemmer in the NFQ.  That means that I bring home most of the quilts when they are ready for their binding.  Right now I have 8 quilts waiting in the wings.

I finished 2 yesterday and turned them in today.

Both of these tops were tied, and are now hemmed.  This bottom one is a Wizard of OZ series, and I just love the colors.

These are the next quilts waiting to be bound.  Since this photo was taken, I have two more done and a third about 1/3 done.  I hope to have at least 2 more done to turn in this Wednesday!  Hand sewn binding is the way they like them for the Sale/Auction.

My fabric challenge project!

I'm sure that most of your remember my "Quilting in the Pines" retreat back in February.  If you don't remember, you can go back HERE to read all about it.  When we registered, we each got 1/2 yd of fabric for the challenge.  You could make a quilt or an "other" project.  I decided to go with the "other" category.

This photo shows all of the pouches (4 in all, one is not pictured) inside the tote.  I even made a phone pocket!

One can never have to many pouches.

Here is a family portrait! The orange print fabric was the challenge fabric.  There is a lot of fussy cutting here.  I quilted the tote around each motif, and each pouch is also quilted around the motif. The green flower print is quilted in FMQ flowers.

Open wide!

It is amazing how the light changes the color of fabrics.  Those flowers are the same green ones shown above.

No, I didn't win...but got a $10 gift certificate to our LQS for entering!

Charlotte's shower quilt...a little late!

You might recognize this as the first top I finished up at "Quilting in The Pines"!  I am now happy to report that it is completed!  Although, I did not finish in time for Charlotte's shower.

I wanted to keep the quilting simple.  This quilt is intended for picnics and "floor time fun".

I used Coats n Clark machine quilting thread in variegated pink.  I love the way it makes this quilt sparkle.

I named this quilt "Floortime Fun".  Before being washed it finished at 58 x 69 1/2.  After washing it measures 54 1/2 x 66 1/2.  It has such a great texture.

Hot rod fun!

I just finished binding a fun little 'Hot Rod' quilt!

This is a great quilt for the car lover in your life, or that little man who loves to play with 'hot wheels'.  For some of us, that is one in the same!  He measures 48x57.

It was lovingly prairie stitched by the gals at NFQ.

This little gem will be turned in on Wednesday, and make his appearance at this years MCC auction!  Held April 4 & 5, right here in Fresno!

Finally, a baby shower for Charlotte!

I know that there are a lot of you who have followed along with the trials and journey of our grand daughter, Charlotte.  We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that have gone up on her behalf.  God is good, and she is doing wonderfully.  She is 6 months old and rolling over now, and her weight keeps going up and up.  She started out at 2lb 2oz, in September of 2013.  But, as of her last Doctor visit, she was 11 lb... I know she weighs more now!

She has finally been given clearance to travel, and they are all coming to visit.  We decided that this would be a great opportunity to have her baby shower!  So, I have gotten busy and made a few things for her.  I showed you about the cart cover here!

These are the 3 patterns I have chosen to follow.

Don't you love these little piggies?

Every baby needs a sun hat, especially here in California.  I used ribbon instead of a Velcro strap.

I think that an eyelet bonnet should be included in every babies wardrobe!

Look at the matching butterfly buttons.

Love the ric-rac!

This is a little blankie for her to hold onto and enjoy.  It is 12x12.  The pink is minkie and the purple is satin!

And finally, a diaper basket made with the leftovers from her bedding.  I hope that you liked this little sneak peek into Charlotte's shower gifts.  I will take lots of pictures of Charlotte so that you can see how big she's getting!!

Now a few photos of Charlotte.....

This is Papa changing her diaper shortly after she was born. 2lb 2oz.

She's holding her daddy's finger!  She was about 6 wks old when they dressed her for the first time.

Grammy with Charlotte.

Check out her bonnet!  A tad to big HUGE, but she will get use out of it for years to come.

The table was set with the finest that I have.  I loved making this bouquet for the centerpiece!  I could have gone on, but I wanted to save you the boredom.  This little 11 lb, blue eyed doll is safe in her own bed tonight.  Thanks for letting me share the fun I have had planning this little celebration.
