My new (old) sewing chair!

Several months back, I was looking for a new sewing chair.  My old one had given up the ghost and I needed something more comfortable.  I was sooooo fortunate to find a wonderful chair at a thrift (op) store for only $7.00.  It wasn't much to look at, but it was super comfy.

I remembered that I had this sewing notions fabric set aside for a tote and decided that it would be better served as my new sewing chair!

Then I realized that I had cut it out upside down and had to add the black.

I did an all over meander.  I used batting and a canvas backing.

I found this coordinating stripe in my stash and it quickly became the back of the chair.  I made the back cover like a slip cover.  I used batting and canvas for the back of this piece also.

My wonderful husband helped me out by taking the seat and pedestal apart for me.  Then he proceeded with the stapling!  He's so wonderful.

She's all secure and duck taped.

Here is what she looks like from the front.  Now that is my kind of sewing chair.

Just a little peek at her backside.  My room gets better with each little colorful addition.  I enjoy being in my sewing cave!!!

Love, love, LURVE your 'new' chair!! Now this is my kind of chair as well. How cool is the fabric. Me thinks your upside down boo boo was meant to be as the chair looks brilliant with the addition of the black fabric. The back is spiffy as well. You can now put the title of upholsterer in your bag of tricks too!

What a transformation! I loved everething about this chair, the price, the fabric and the back! It's really a happy print, I had it aside for a while too and decided to use it on a quilt for my daughter.

Looks so cute, Vicki! I've recovered my office chair, but have yet to "beautify" my sewing chair. This makes me want to get it done... thanks!

Great chair cover! Funny I bought a sewing chair a couple of years ago that has that same sewing print. I spent way more than $7!!!LOL!!!

I love that you did this and showed us. I have a chair I have been thinking I would like to recover and have never done anything like this before. The seat looks easy enough, but I am wondering more about the back. Did you just wing a pattern or did you have the back off and could draw around the old cover?

What a great way to reuse a chair and to make it truly yours. And way to go getting your husband involved in your sewing habit!
