Happy Valentine's Day...

...and happy anniversary to me!  36 years to the same wonderful man!  It is so fantastic being married to your best friend.  I highly recommend it!

My special friend Deborah (Simply Miss Luella) and I are going to lunch today, and I just couldn't show up empty handed!  I was looking at some of my favorite blogs and ran across this great mug rug that Amy at Amy Made That made.  I thought that I could make that in no time flat, so I started out.

These squares are 1 1/2 x 1 1/2.  I free handed a heart pattern.

I started sewing them together until I had a block big enough to accommodate the heart I made.

I grabbed a piece of batting and quilted a grid on the whole piece.

I traced the heart on the block....

....and cut it out.  I then laid the quilted heart face down on the lining fabric.  I'm not sure why I didn't take any pictures of that.  I sewed around the whole thing with a 1/4 in. seam, leaving an opening for turning.  I clipped notches around the curves and trimmed the point then turned it right side out.  I then pressed it realy well and top stitched very close to the edge.  This closed up the turning opening.

Night time photos, so the colors are off in some of these pictures.

I wonder who ate half of that piece of candy?  Have a wonderful day!
