News around my sewing room!

I absolutely love happy mail as do most all of you!  I have gotten some great happy mail in the past few weeks.  I had the opportunity to clean up my sewing room this week, and put up a new shelf to display some of my happy mail and gifts.

About a month ago, I was informed that I had won a $50 gift certificate from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics!!  I was thrilled, and set out to choose exactly what I wanted.  I could not make up my mind, so I ordered a bunch of low volume fat quarters with some Kona solids thrown in to make up the difference.

This is the newest piece in my sewing room.  It started out as one of those unfinished crates you can get at the craft store.  I'm not even sure where this one came from.  It was sitting in the closet for a few years.  I decided to paint it barn red and make a display for my beautiful fat quarters.  They are all works of art to me.

Is it hot where you are?  It is H-O-T here!  This is what I woke up to the other day....

...yep...that is 8:45am and it is already 81 in the coolest spot in the house.  I had just turned the A/C down to 79 to try to cool down my sewing room...which is the hottest room in the house.  This particular day it got up to 108.  That's Fresno, CA for ya!!

you can never have too much storage! We are having a lovely summer in south Wales but I think you would find it a bit chilly. It reached 23c. here yesterday, that's about 73.5f I think. Perfect!

Barn red was the perfect colour to make that cute storage crate really pop against the background! Some really sweet and yummy fabrics you have proudly displayed on it.... Can't wait to see what you make with those. Stay cool!

You've inspired me! hope I can convince the rest of my family that an inherited (not an heirloom!) dark brown small kitchen dresser needs to be repainted in your colour of choice barn red!

Wow! I love your sewing room shelf. Great move to paint it a fabulous color and let it be a co-star with the fabrics! I'm putting this on a Pinterest board now.

Lucky you, winning that gift certificate! Looks like you put it to good use - that package could have just as easily arrived at my house. I do love low volume & Kona! I'm not much good at converting farenheit to celcius, but even I know that over 100 is WAY too hot! It's nowhere near that warm in Nova Scotia these days, but it's hot for us!

Beautiful choices! And holy, that's warm! It's hot here but not quite that hot. We don't often hit the 100s in the summer but we spend a lot of July and Aug in the high 80s and 90s. (My Fahrenheit to Celsius is a little rusty...) Then we spend October to March in the deep freeze - gotta love the Canadian prairies (-50 to 105 and back again in a calendar year)!

Stay cool and hydrated, dear!
