Thanks to my "It's A Sister Thing - 2014" swap partner Grace at City Mouse Quilter
, I have a new pillow on my hand sewing chair in my sewing room!! I have needed a new pillow for ages, and just hadn't taken the time to make one. When I say these fabrics in my special package, I knew immediately that they were going to be IT!
I decided that I would cut the squares 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 with the lobster block at 4 1/2 x 4 1/2. The navy check will be the back.
I absolutely adore this little lobster guy! Looks to me like he is ready to eat. I simply quilted with my walking foot, 1/4" out from each seam, And used my free motion foot to outline the lobster...twice!
This is where I sit to do hand work. I was in desperate need of a back pillow. See the little table off to the side, I made that in woodshop in Hi School! I was the first girl to ever take woodshop in my Hi School. I won't tell you how long ago that was.
Now I have the most stylish pillow in the land! Thanks Grace, for these wonderful fabrics. Now I will think of you every time I walk into my sewing room.

What a perfect use of your pretty new fabrics Vicki! The lobster looks very happy surrounded by the sea of blue! Some of the prints even look like shells! Lovely!
I am always amazed by quilters who can make something so beautiful out of what looks to me 'just some fabrics'! My compliments!!!!
Love from Amsterdam
What a cute (and functional) little pillow! That lobster is so cute. I love how you outlined him twice. Really makes him stand out! I was the only girl in my high school that was taking shop at the time... We are so much alike, sis!
Your pillow turned out really cute! I just love that lobster fabric and this pillow highlights it. Your table is also great. "Back in my day", the girls all had to take shop and the guys all had to take home ec but we didn't make that complicated of a project. It all comes together to make a comfy, cozy sewing corner!
Your pillow looks darling on that gorgeous chair. They were made for each other. So not only are you a clever stitcher, Miss Vicki, you are also a clever woodworker. Your talents have no end!
vicki, you are a whiz! so fast and so cute and adorable! i love those fabrics too....glad you like the fabric and i agree, the lobster looks yummy! here in maine it's easy to find lobster theme fabric, but i especially liked this particular print and glad you do too!
You are so quick and love the story of your table!!! You go girl: first girl to take woodshop!!!!
That little lobster guy is too cute. Great pillow!
Your pillow is gorgeous. I also LOVE your fabrics in your sewing chair. It looks like a great place to sit and stitch.
That patchwork is perfect with your sewing chair! Wonderful that you made something so quickly with your surprise fabric, and it is something for yourself!
How cute is that Lobster! lovely pillow :)
I love how you quilted around the lobster!
Love the stitching around the lobster!
Hi! Beautiful Fabrics and you made gorgeus pillow! It goes perfectly with your chair!
Love your little lobster pillow Vicki! Filled with quirky charm!
That pillow is simply adorable!
I love how you outlined the lobster twice. I will have to try that sometime. Thanks for sharing!
I love what you have made from your sister swap gifts. Even more, I love seeing your Chinese sewing baskets on the table you made yourself! I have a similar basket that belonged to one of my grandmothers--but compared to yours, there are many missing pieces! Love that you have not one, but two!
A lovely pillow, Vicki!!! I love the stitching around the lobster. And what a beautiful table!!! How wonderful to be able to use it to hold your baskets and to sit beside it as you sew.
