A new playmat for my sewing machine!

I consider sewing playtime, so I knew that a new 'play mat' for my sewing machine would be right in line.  I have trouble with my extension table shifting when I sew, and I am always having to push it back up to the plate of my machine.  After some thought, I figured that having it sit on a mat of some kind would keep it in place.

I dug through my scraps and found this off cut from a quilt that I made for my grand daughter.  You know, when you baste your top to the back, and you have way more then you need.  I also cut some circles with the AccuQuilt Go baby that I am trying out.

One scrap wasn't wide enough, so I just trimmed and sewed them together!
Please do not look at the ugly backing.  I just picked any ol' scrap that was big enough from my stash.  The circles are just raw edge appliqued down.

I did echo quilting.  It was so much fun!

This little mat ended up at 15 1/2x33.
Elly is thrilled with her new play mat!  It's always much more fun to work sitting on a nice quilt.

Great use of scraps. My scrap piece of batting that I put under mine doesn't look so good now that I've seen your pretty mat.

This is a fabulous idea and one that I need to copy. I have an extension table, too. You just can not do your best job when things are shifting around as you work. I love the happy colors that you used.
A project that is pretty and functional is mighty hard to beat.
Great job!
