Quilting in the Pines!!

If you were wondering why I was so quiet last week...I was 'Quilting in the Pines'!  My seat was right in the near corner...

...and this was my view!

This retreat was put on by our LQS.  Quilter's Paradise in Clovis, CA.

I started sewing as soon as I could get my machine and area set up.

This was my first finish of the weekend.  Yes, I finished it the first night, then started on...

 ...this one!

I finished my second flimsy before lunch on Friday!  Double checking this post, I noticed that the last row on the bottom is backwards!  I am sooooo embarrassed.

Here is the group I was with! That's my mess right out in front.

It rained 1 1/2" on Friday...

...and look at this beautiful sunset!

This is what I saw if I turned around.  There were a LOT of women there.

In the lower right you'll see the tote and 4 pouches I entered into the fabric challenge.  No, I didn't win, a pillow beat me out for the grand prize.

One of the prizes I won was this little bundle of fat quarters!

This was the third flimsy I finished on Saturday!

Right down by the golf cart is our room.

You might recognize the gal sitting next to me...Cindy from Live a Colorful Life!!

This last quilt had a lot of pieces and a lot of ironing.  I have sinse gotten all the blocks together.  I will be posting about it in the future.

These were another prize I won.

There was a block exchange...and I was drawn first to pick.  I got 13, 12x12 blocks!  My friend Dotty got 12.  We are going to add a few, and make a quilt for next years MCC Sale!!

All good things must come to an end.  So now you know what I did last week!  If you are still here and reading this...bless you!

Looks like you had a very fun and productive sewing bonanza!

I didn't notice the upside down row either!

You must have a wonderful sense of achievement. Good for you! And what a beautiful place to sew. I would have spent too much time gazing out the window!

Wow!! What a gorgeous place to hang out with lovely ladies and stitch your day away!! I am afraid that my attention would have constantly wandered from my sewing machine to that glorious view!! My goodness your flimsies are mighty impressive, Miss Vicki!! I can't believe that your pretties didn't win a prize or two!!

What a gorgeous view! Love that sweet sunset shot. Your finished tops are fabulous! And I would consider that so called upside down row a design element. Not everyone goes in the same direction, eh? Adds a lot of interest to that pretty top! Looks like a fun time!

Wow, it looks as though you had a great time! I can't imagine what it would be like to be in a room with all of those people quilting at the same time, it must have been lots of fun. All of the pieces that you produced are beautiful. xx

The pillow is cool, but how could your totes with the most not win?

Are those chocolate m&m cookies I see???? I don't have a retreat buddy any more...and so miss these! Where you were was absolutely beautiful. I'll have to see if Cindy took one of her wine glass pics while you guys were on retreat!

You must have had a great time. I love the quilts you made during your time at the retreat. I also love the view. The venue reminds me of the beautiful Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland.

Hi Vicki, you are still sewing circles around me! :) Your flimsies are wonderful. And what a great place to get away to. Sigh... if only. Keep up the good work. Your lemonaide is a blessing to your ministry! PS... Where's the snow? I'm a Florida girl and thought you all were blanketed.

You are such a fast worker and I loved reading your post, it made me want to be there. I actually really like that you 'purposely' turned the bottom row of Friday's flimsy around - I think it adds interest. I wish I was just half as productive as you :D

Sounds like a wonderful time. I had to look at the quilt three times before I could see what was different. I like it the way it is. ;)

Love going on retreats but have not had a view like that. Such a great spot and lots of sewing!

My colour of choice today would be "green with envy". What an incredible retreat. Great view, lots of quilters, you even won prizes, and most of all, you accomplished so much. Thanks for sharing it all. You've inspired me to take a retreat of my own, at home. I'll even put a sign on the door "Do Not Disturb. On a Retreat. Will Accept Food." Such fun!
