Pinwheel Pines!

Here is another quilt that was started back in February at the 'Quilting in the Pines' retreat.  I decided to put this quilt away and pick up another project while up at the retreat because, there is a LOT of pressing with this pattern, and I was taking up one of the ironing stations for far to long.

So. I thought I was all done when I put together the last of the 12x12 squares at the retreat in June!  After looking at it on the design wall, we all decided that it needed more.....borders.  The pattern doesn't call for borders, but it was a little to plain and needed to be bigger.

So I brought her home once again, and added 3 outside borders.

And now she (the flimsy) is done!!  Yay!!  It was getting to the point that I didn't like to even look at this quilt anymore.

I had to figure out a back, so I just took scraps of fabric and pieced them together.  Now I have another quilt to turn into NFQ (North Fresno Quilters) for them to finish off.  I wonder, tied, prairie stitched or machine quilted???

It is beautiful! The borders really echo the fact that each block has the different colours and they way they look. I can't explain what I mean, but it just looks perfect! xx

I love this pattern and how you've used it, creating a fabulous autumn quilt. The borders are a perfect finishing touch, so get it quilted quickly: autumn is nearly here!

I love the little pinwheels in the corners, as well as the extra borders. But tell me, what is prairie quilting?

The pinwheels are so pretty against the white background, but you ladies were right... The borders frame them in nicely. Looks fabulous! Love that scrappy backing, too!

I think this is a beautiful quilt! I love both the pattern and the fabrics, but I do understand just wanting to walk away from a project and move on to something else. Glad you finished the top.... it will be a wonderful when quilted!

Very nice pattern, and good color choice. I agree with all who say the border sets the blocks off well.

I'd go for a simple machine quilting--maybe organic wavy lines.

I don't know what prairie quilting is either

Your borders maketh this quilt. Some clever piecing there, Miss Vicki. This flimsy will look lovely when quilted....but as to what quilting...I am sure you will come up with a brilliant idea!

I love this quilt and that's saying something as I'm not a fan of brown normally. xxx
