Finish it up Friday with Crazy Mom Quilts!!

I have been so anxious to show this finish-up!  A very sweet story is behind these pillows.  Mr H and I had a special gift for our children and their spouses.  We just didn't want to hand them an envelope and say, 'here is your gift', so MR H asked if I could come up with something clever.  I immediately knew what I was going to make.  The money is to help with the down payment on their next homes, so I thought a house pillow with a hidden pocket would be perfect!!

First I had to design the houses. Then it took over an hour just to choose the fabric.  I finally went with the girls' favorite colors.

I needed a pocket to insert a check, and thought that it would be safe inside the front door.  The buttons used for the door nobs are over 75 yrs old!  The reason for the fire print on the front door?  My son-in-law is the president of "CMA", (Christian Motorcycle Assoc.) and I wanted him to feel special.  He noticed it right away.

I even put pleated curtains in the bright sunny window.

I had a chance to practice different quilting methods!  It was great fun, and boosted my confidence for bigger projects.

This finish-up is linking to the Finish Up Friday link at Crazy Mom Quilts!!  Check out what others have finished up this week!!

The pillows are great! I might do that for my kids when they get their own homes (minus the $$ of course!) ;-)
